Broken Social Scene in Philly
Well, it’s been a little while. First it was laziness. Then when I decided I did wanna do a blog post on the XPoNential Music Festival, my computer died. But now I’m up and running and the blog laziness haze has finally worn off. You can expect alot more posts in the near future, cause I’ve got quite a few shows coming up. Broken Social Scene kicks things off.
When it was announced that BSS were to play The TLA, I kinda shrugged it off. I knew it would sell out. I saw Kevin Drew during his “Spirit If…” tour. Seeing them wasn’t really high on my list. Then they added a second night, and as fate would have it, I found myself off of work with nothing to do on Wednesday and Broken Social Scene was in town. It was a no brainer.
The TLA was pretty packed, but Lady GAGA was in town so I’m sure that kept the crowd down on this second night. *sarcasm*
It was a really good mix of BSS “classics” as well as new songs. I was really excited to hear the Forgiveness Rock Record songs live. They sounded great. Here’s a video I took of one of them. The song is called “Texico Bitches.”
Kevin Drew IS the man. Brendan Canning looks weird without his beard. He was funny though. They were both pretty talkative throughout, which is almost always a pleasure.
All in all it was a really good show. One of the horn players was a local guy. I can’t remember his name. The dude’s parents were in the crowd. We were standing right by them when Kevin Drew pointed them out. They seemed like good people and very proud parents of this fine young horn player.
Here’s a couple more videos I took that night. The first is Fire Eye’d Boy. The second is All to All, which is also off the new album. Enjoy.
